Walker Stalker Con

Walker Stalker Con (walkerstalkercon.com) was created by James Frazier, a co-founder of the Walker Stalkers Podcast, as a convention dedicated to the TV show The Walking Dead and, later, its spinoff, Fear the Walking Dead. It was Kickstarted in 2013 and ran in Atlanta, in which the show was initially set.

Its success led to an expansion into other cities. At the time of writing in 2019, the current list includes Atlanta, San Jose, New Jersey, Portland, Berlin, London, Chicago, Cleveland, Nashville and now Phoenix. Sister cons include Fan Fest and Heroes & Villains Fan Fest.

Walker Stalker Con's entry into Phoenix fandom was cancelled in late December 2018 (legionofsand.com), less than six weeks out from its advertised dates of 26th to 27th January, 2019, along with Fan Fest in Portland. Other events from the same organisers continued on as scheduled.

However, it was then, rather appropriately for a zombie con, brought quickly back to life and rescheduled to September 2019 (legionofsand.com).

Almost inevitably, given how many zombies die on the shows every week, this apparent resurgence didn't last and it was cancelled once more (legionofsand.com) at the very end of April 2019, amidst rumours of bankruptcy. For how it's fared since then, the national press has paid attention to the downward spiral.
