The Arizona Book Festival was a one day book festival coordinated by the Arizona Humanities Council in Phoenix. Initially held outdoors in the Margaret T. Hance Deck Park, it featured over a hundred authors reading and signing during the first year's event and grew consistently from there. After five years outdoors and five more at the Carnegie Library, a new venue was needed and none was found, so the event went on hiatus. In 2009, presumably to fill the gap, the Tucson Festival of Books was launched and promptly took over with 50,000 people at its first event. |
