National Barbie® Doll Collectors Convention

Overview

The National Barbie® Doll Collectors Convention (NBDCC) is exactly what it sounds like, a national convention dedicated to collectors of the doll Barbie.

However, it isn't a Mattel event, instead being run by individual non profit groups around the country who win the right to host it through a bid process, rather like travelling science fiction/fantasy conventions. Notably, even though they don't officially run it, Mattel do approve of the event, routinely sponsoring dinners and providing gifts for attendees.

It was founded in 1980 by Ruth Cronk and Phoenix held it at least once in 2018. The convention dolls that year were designed by Carlyle Nuyera, a Mattel designer.
