Contact was a national academic conference owned by Contact, Inc. In 1990 and 1991, CASFS (the Central Arizona Science Fiction Society), hosted and conducted the event except for programming. As described in program books for events 7 and 8, the events aimed to bring 'together some of the nation's foremost scientists, science fiction writers and artists to exchange ideas, explore possibilities and stimulate new perspectives about humanity's future. Our goal: To encourage serious and creative interdisciplinary speculation guided by the principles of science.' |
