Entirely unrelated to both the Phoenix Con of the early 1970s and the PhoenixCon of the mid-1980s, this third Phoenix Con was a comic book convention held in 1994 and 1995 at a Tempe nightclub. It was advertised as "Arizona's Only Major Comic Con", though I'm not aware of any competition, especially as Phoenix Cactus Comicon didn't begin until 2002. The second was predominantly an enhanced vendor floor with Todd McFarlane on a riser in the middle of the room and professional models cosplaying characters from his Spawn comic books. |
